My Life As Mommy And Student.

Hey guys, happy Friday 😄

As some of you may or may not know I am a online student. I have been attending classes since before I had my son and I always enjoyed it. I always had the self discipline to do so what I needed to do as a student, so once my son was born I decided that I would continue my education.

As a mother, being a student is very different for me. I have learned to manage my time better and get my school work done around my son’s schedule. My husband is a big help but sometimes my son just wants to be around mommy and doesn’t understand that I have to finish an assignment or study for a test.

When my son was first born, I didn’t see a difference at all. You know, he was a little baby so he wasn’t doing much and I could take the time I need to be a student when needed. Now that he is a little older and walking and talking there’s no such thing.

Here are some things I have learned being a Mommy and a student.

  • Have A Schedule – I have learned that when I schedule my times to study or complete assignments that I don’t feel bad about leaving my child to do so. I usually schedule around his naps times which as worked out perfect for me.
  • Multi-Task – At first I would feel like if I studied with him then I am taking away time to spend with him. But I have learned that it is actually including him in what I am doing. Plus he enjoys pulling his littl books out when he sees me get started with school work.
  • Me Time – Through this whole process as mommy and student I have learned that it’s okay to take some me time. To turn my brain off from being a student and a mom and do something I enjoy like read a book or listen to music.

Being a mom and a student is not easy but it can work. Also moms remember that it is okay to ask for help when you need it. I know we don’t like to ask for help, but we all need it at some point in our lives.

This post is everything. Especially at the end when you encourage moms to ask for help. That’s so important to remember we don’t always have to do it all by ourselves. ✊🏾❤️

  13. Good for you girl! Its rough trying to hop skip and jump from job to jobs (Foster mom, Student and full time employee) in my case, but someone has to do it! It’s reassuring know that I am not the only mamma struggling. Its are hard things to do but it will all be worth it in the end, just stick it out til the end! You got this!
