The Importance of Self Love

Hey guys. Welcome back to my blog.

My “Month of Love” series is almost over and I want to end it by talking about the most important kind of love there is: self love. Just like self care, self love is important for your well being. In my opinion when you truly learn love yourself, you no longer look to others for validation.

Self love enables you to be happy with everything about you. Meaning all of the flaws and all of the good. You embrace yourself and can walk in a room full of people and your light will shine through.

When I was younger, I had things that I didn’t love about my self and I would try to hide them behind things that wasn’t me. I would consistently compare myself to others and I wasn’t happy with me. I overcame that by taking time to get to know me, the real me. I started to fall in love with who I am and celebrate the things that makes me unique and different from everyone else.

During that time of getting to know me I realized that self love is associated with greater life satisfaction. Self love is appreciating yourself and that means appreciating your life. Self love allows you to hold yourself in high esteem which ultimately allows you to be a more positive person and have a positive outlook on life.

Believe it or not, self love it something that is taken for granted and looked over on a daily basis. Please don’t do that to yourself, please take the time to get to know yourself and to love yourself.

Always remember that the best person to love is yourself!

Until next time…stay positive

  1. Actually the best Person to love is Jesus Christ, because He’s the only One Who can save us from our sin, and hell, the only One who knows exactly what our problems are, and what we need. I think the problem with self-love talk, isn’t appreciating yourself as a unique creation by God, but the focus on ourselves isn’t super healthy for those who are insecure. Because balance is key.

That’s why the Bible is awesome, because it provided balance. Love thy neighbor as thyself. But what does it say? Crucify your lusts, take up the cross, die daily, basically, we are to die to self, but also appreciate ourselves as a special creation loved by Jesus Christ.

I appreciate the message of self acceptance, it is very important in a world full of people screaming to be dis-satisfied with what God has made, but at the same time, we should keep our focus on loving, worshipping, and glorifying Jesus Christ and not on self-worship (not saying you were promoting that) Self acceptance, is actually very key, because God got ticked at Moses for cutting himself down…but naturally we are selfish creatures, in that we always want our way. Jesus is the only one who loves us beyond imagination, so instead of going to ourselves as our own lovers, why not give back to the One Who loved us enough to bleed His heart out on the Cross, and accept ourselves, instead of envying.

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. Mark 12:30

    Have a sweet week!

    1. You are absolutely right. Jesus Christ comes first in my life. You should still love yourself self best in comparison to others on Earth. That is the message that I was trying to get across in this post. Thanks for your insight and that’s for reading. Have a blessed day!

As I get older I find myself getting better and better at this. It’s hard to find self love when you are young sometimes!

    1. Yes it is, I guess it’s because when you are young, you are still trying to find yourself.

Toya, thanks for this beautiful reminder to Love. We cannot give what we don’t have, after all. Especially with us Moms, we must remind each other that we cannot serve on an empty cup…those we love who need us also need us to love ourselves. πŸ’• Blessings to you! Evelyn, PathofPresence πŸ¦‹
