Study Tips for Online Students

Hello Everyone, Happy Thursday 😊

I hope that you all have been having a great week so far and are accomplishing the goals that you set out for this week.

This is the season of going back to school. While I scroll down my Facebook timeline, I see many parents posting there children’s first day of school pictures. And that makes me smile. All of th children look amazing with there nice school clothes on, with a bright smile plastered on there faces. There excitement instantly warms my heart.

I don’t have a school age child yet, AyeJay is only one. I know the time will come soon for him to become a big boy and head to school. I’m sure that I will be that parent that tries to hold back tears as I wave bye.

Even thought I have some years before it’s my son’s turn to head to school, I, on the other hand, will have my first day back at online school in less then a week. I have been a online student for quite sometime now and I love it! I believe that this form of school just works best for me and my family at the time.

With online school you do have to have a lot of self discipline if you want to be successful. There is no one there reminding you to study for a test or to even get started on an assignment. It’s all up to you. I have came up with a few study tips that has helped me to become an successful as a online student.

Study Tips :

  1. Dedicated Study Space – I recommend finding a place where you can go and study without any distractions. This will allow you to focus at the task as hand without any interruptions. Also, I would recommend leaving your cell phone out of this space so that you won’t be tempted to scroll on Facebook. (Haha)
  2. Build A Study Plan- A study plan is critical in online learning. This will help you to stay on track with what needs to be done. A study plan can include a calendar, a to-do-list, time limitations, etc.
  3. Stay On Schedule- I know that with online school it can be very easy to not stay on schedule and procrastinate on work. That’s why it is very important to stay on a schedule when it come to studying and completing assignments.
  4. Stay Motivated- I would say that the best way to stay motivated is to get engaged in your experience as an online student. This can mean rewarding yourself for a job well done or simply decorating your study space.

Well everyone, these are just a few tips to help you to become a successful online student. Please comment below and let me know of some of your study tips, even if you’re not a online student, I still want to hear from you guys.

Until next time…stay positive!

  2. Good Luck LaToya! (I almost gave you a nickname…Toya lol) Anywho, I teach primarily online and I agree with what you have here. I also suggest that students treat their online classes as if they’re face-to-face by choosing a day/time to sit down and be in the class.

  7. These are good tips. I remember in my Psych 101 class a hundred years ago, our professor told us to match our at home study area as close to our in-class test taking area as possible. He said the similar environments will aid memory. I don’t know if it works, but I got an A. 🙂
